Ascension has been in the Harrisburg area for about 40 years, but the story starts a long time before that.

It began with the first human beings shattering a life of perfect love with God. In amazing mercy, God promised a Savior and in time sent his Son, Jesus Christ, into the world. Jesus was like no other person: he taught with authority and had power over sickness, disease, and even death. He revealed the problem of evil as something within each human heart, and he helped people see this sin in their own lives. But more than that, he provided a way out! Jesus was not simply a teacher; he was the Savior, and through his life and death and resurrection he won forgiveness for all people.

This story continues here today at Ascension, as Jesus Christ still calls people to repentance and promises forgiveness and life through him!

Who is Ascension?

Who is Ascension?

Ascension is a small but growing church. We come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and backgrounds. We love and support one another as a family. And we're just like you: sinners in need of Jesus.

We come together in this place to praise God for his gift of Jesus, to encourage each other, and to serve.

What kind of church are you?

What kind of church are you?

Ascension is a confessional Lutheran church. Among other things, that means we believe and teach that the Bible is God's true Word and that God freely forgives the sins of all people because of Jesus Christ.

As a confessional church, our teaching is rooted firmly in Scripture alone and conforms to the historic Lutheran confessions.

Ascension is a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), a larger group of churches that share a common faith and partner in ministry in the United States and abroad.
