The Spirit Unites the Scattered in Christ
Pastor Ben Berger - 6/5/2022
That first Pentecost marked a special beginning. While the sin of Babel had scattered sinners in division and distrust, anger and animosity, Pentecost united sinners in a shared acknowledgement of sin, a shared trust in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and a shared love for one another. This was no surface-level unity; this wasn’t mere lip service. This was God the Holy Spirit claiming for himself, in Christ, a people of his own. Prior to this, God revealed himself to one nation, to Israel; now began the time of the New Testament Church, where God would reveal himself to all people through the gospel of Jesus. That work of the Holy Spirit began on that first Pentecost; and it has continued all the way to today.
