Pop quiz: What was Jesus’ first miracle? If you’re thinking it was to heal a sick person or raise the dead back to life, you’d be close – but not quite there. Perhaps surprisingly, Jesus’ first ever miracle was at a wedding, solving the problem that arose at a celebration in the small town of Cana, the problem of running out of wine. Why was Jesus there? And why did he choose that as his first miracle? Scripture makes it clear to us – and we explore it in our message today: “What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him” (John 2:11).
